The proposal to build mega-casinos in the Sunshine State – including some of the world’s largest casinos – is a Bad Bet for Florida. That’s why The Coalition to Stop the Bad Bet for Florida, a coalition of concerned business groups led by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, has organized to fight the special interests and out-of-state casinos working to establish mammoth casinos in our state.
The proposal to promote Las Vegas-style destination casino gambling would:
Destroy Florida businesses, killing jobs, rather than creating them;
Divert ongoing smart economic development strategies; and
Undercut Florida’s long-standing efforts to promote the state globally.
This proposal is a dramatic expansion of gambling that will forever change the culture and image of Florida!
Don’t fall for expanded gambling proponents’ empty promise of a quick economic jackpot. As the voice of Florida’s business community, we believe “what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas.” Let’s stop efforts to establish mammoth Las Vegas-style casinos in Florida, and keep our focus on priority issues like education reform, regulatory reform, and promoting small business, manufacturing and trade.
